  　本土では聞こえませんでしたが、10月最初の土日に南米がオープンしました。10月10日前後を一つのピークとして沖縄からはアフリカも期待できます。また、本土からも南米が期待できるかも知れません。

    • H40AA TEMOTU ISLANDS (A New DXCC Country!??)
      H40, TEMOTU ISLANDS (A New DXCC Country!) In a press release by Tim Totten, N4GN, the South China Sea DX Team (SCSDXT) announces that they have extensively studied the new DXCC criteria which will become effective on March 31, 1998, and have found/researched/discovered several potential new DXCC entities. The Temotu Islands, located in the South Pacific, collectively form the easternmost province of the Solomon Islands, an independent country since 1978. Because Temotu is separated by more than 350 km from the rest of the Solomon Islands, it should easily qualify as a new DXCC entity. The SCSDXT has teamed with the Solomon Islands' IARU member organization, SIRS (Solomon Islands Radio Society), in organizing a full-scale DXpedition to Temotu, as well as preparing the application for new DXCC status. The team for this operation includes members from four continents:
      
      • H44GP, H44GR, JA5DQH, N4GN, N7NG, OH0XX, OH1RY, OH2BC, OH2BE, OH2BH, OH2TA, W6OSP and 9V1YC.
        
      In recognition of its new status, the Solomon telecommunications authorities have agreed to assign the previously unused H40 prefix to Temotu for all future amateur operations. This first Temotu DXpedition has been issued the special call sign H40AA. The team will begin arriving on March 21st and may be found on the air using their individual H44 call signs while making final preparations for the main event. These early operations--including all-band activity in the CQ WPX SSB Contest, will count for DXCC credit as the Solomon Islands under the current rules. At 2359Z on March 31st, the H40AA call sign will be debuted on the air, at which point QSOs will count for Temotu DXCC credit, presuming the application for new DXCC status is eventually approved.
      The H40AA operation will continue for approximately two weeks. Suggested H40AA operating frequencies will be:
      
      • CW: 1824, 3504, 7004, 10104, 14024, 18074, 21024, 24894, 28024 and 50104 kHz
        
      • SSB: 1824, 3775, 7045, 14195, 18135, 21295, 24945, 28495 and 50104 kHz
        
      • RTTY: 14083 and 21083 kHz
        
      QSLs for H44 "warm up" QSOs (for Solomon Islands DXCC credit) will be via the home call of the individual operators. The H40AA Temotu QSLs will be handled by OH2BN: Jarmo J. Jaakola, Kiilletie 5C30, Helsinki 00710, FINLAND. SIRS has kindly requested that DXers NOT send any cards for these operations via the H4 QSL bureau.
      
    • the Royal Omani ARS (ROARS) hopes to be active in the last week of March.
      A4, OMAN. The "DX News Sheet" reports that the Royal Omani ARS (ROARS) hopes to be active in the last week of March, probably as A43DI from Daymaniyat Island. There is planned activity on 6 meters with IC-706 and 5 element yagi. Also, a 6m beacon, probably on 50100kHz, will be available. Permission has not yet been given for general 6m use in Oman, but Tony, A45ZN, is ready to be active when it is given. He will use a FT-690 and IC-706, 100W to a vertical and 5 element yagi at 60ft. Tony will also run a beacon on 50110 kHz.
    • Hatteras Island (IOTA NA-067, USI NC-005S) from March 16-28th.
      USI/IOTA ALERT. The group from the USI Award informed OPDX that Dennis, AA3ID, will be on Hatteras Island (IOTA NA-067, USI NC-005S) from March 16-28th. He will have 80-6 meters available. They indicated that if you need this island, try giving him a call on 14260 or 14265 kHz because Dennis will be monitoring while doing "useful" work down there.
    • '98 03/05 〜 '98 03/12 KH1, BAKER AND HOWLAND
      BAKER AND HOWLAND ISLANDS, KH1. MKDXF and SSIDXG members will be QRV as N4BQW/KH1 from March 5 to 12. QSL via AC7DX.

      PALMYRA AND JARVIS ISLANDS, KH5. Members of the Midway Kure Island DX Foundation, MKDXF, and South Sandwich Island Antarctic DX Group, SSIDXG, may be QRV as KA4IST/KH5 beginning February 4. This is an all band effort, using CW, SSB, and RTTY, with possible satellite and 6 meters operations. QSL via AC7DX.
      
      
  • '97 11/23 またまたＰＹ５ＣＣが沖縄でオープン！！
    　ＰＹ５ＣＣピーターによると、'97年11月23日08:33JSTより50.110MHzの2xSSBで、７Ｊ６ＣＣＵとＳ９で交信したとのこと。また、他のＪＡは聞こえなかったがカリブや中米とのＴＥＰは良かったそうです。
    
    
  • '97 10/14 ＰＹ５ＣＣが沖縄でオープン！！
    　ＪＲ６ＳＶＷ仲程さんによると、ＪＲ６ＨＩ知花さんが、'97年10月14日10:02JSTより50.110MHzの2xSSBで、ＰＹ５ＣＣと交信したとのこと。ＰＹ５ＣＣは30分程度ＣＱを連発していたようですが、他にはＱＳＯできてないようです。またＪＭ１ＳＺＹ隈部さんがＰＹ５ＣＣから受け取ったメールでも「ＪＲ６ＨＩとＳ９で交信した。すばらしいことである。この時には中南米とカリブは多少入感していたが、他には日本も太平洋も聞こえなかった。」とのことです。
